Skogan Pass

(a ride through the foothills and a hike to the Troll Falls and an overlook above the Skogan Pass)

here we took the dirt road 68 through the foothills to kananaskis country






soon we ended up at the barrier lake, where we took a short trail along its shore




the trail leads to an overlook



then we continued on road 40 down to kananaskis village



soon we saw the ski slopes near kananaskis village



road 40 essentially follows the kananaskis river


next we took a trail to troll falls...





and then continued via skogan pass trail to an old fire lookout




you can tell that the hummingbird plume fire lookout was built in 1940s


on our way back to calgary, we stopped at mt lorette ponds
