In Abu Dhabi, we booked an afternoon tour,
so in the morning I had time to roam around the port.
Besides the usual shipping infrastructure, I found a local market...
...featuring the usual assortment of souvenirs...
...and cheap household goods straight from the loading docks.
Our city tour started at the Sheikh Zayed Mosque.
Unfortunately it was Friday, so we could admire it only from the outside.
Next stop - Formula One circuit in the Yas Marina.
The racing track circles around a peculiar looking hotel ...
...which is the main attraction of the area.
(unless you are a Ferrari fan,
in which case a little theme park of this brand might suit you better)
Fish markets became the staple of our tour itineraries.
Consider yourself lucky that we do not have a smell photo yet.
Then we took a trip alongside the famous Corniche...
...which looked very elegant and almost futuristic.
This is the headquarters of the Oil Exploration Company of Abu Dhabi
Our next destination was the Emirates Palace hotel.
We did not have reservations, so we had to stay on the outside.
This is the view across the street, away from the Palace.
Then we continued our ride through the city...
...into the Heritage Park...
...with displays of traditional lifestyle.
From the Heritage Park we could see the Corniche just across the bay.
An airshow was taking place, so every now and then...
...we could see airplanes flying over a little cafe at the end of the parking lot.
And then we rode back through the city...
...and into the harbor area.
