At Cozumel we finally caught some sun.
The pier segues into a minimall...
...that issues into the town.
This was finally Caribbean as I imagined it.
I wanted to take a dive in a submarine,
so I took about a mile long walk alongside the coast...
...until I came to a dock...
...where I boarded a boat that took us to a dive site.
The submarine was a simple cylinder (worth $4.5M) with the captain at its head.
The roughly 30 passengers sat in the center of the boat
and each had his/her own window to look through.
We dove to roughly 100 feet...
...where the light conditions were so poor...
...that the cameras could barely distinguish colors
although eyes could see them still pretty well.
This school of fish was so large, it wouldn't even fit the camera's scope.
After about 50 minutes, we ascended to the music of "2001:Space Odyssey"
and thousands of little bubbles.
After the submarine experience, I still had time, so I continued my walk south...
...past the new cruise terminal...
...and variety of hotels...
...with their little beaches...
...and patios.
There was a pretty strong wind...
...causing powerful surge.
After a while I came to another stretch of undeveloped coastline...
...and decided to turn back.
On my way back I saw places modest...
...and luxurious...
...and at the end came within sight of our own ship.
That meant I was back in town...
...known for its affinity for margaritas...
...in every shape and form.
I got back to ship just in time to catch the setting sun...
...and its afterglow.
